DESCRIPTION
The Government Museum is the second oldest museum in south India. The imposing neoclassical architectural structure was built in 1878.
It has Corinthian columns, circular arches, sloping eaves and a prominent parapet wall. There are two porticos on either side.
According to official sources, the museum started functioning from a rented building for 13 years before occupying the present building in Cubbon Park, which was known as ?Tamasha Bungalow? (fun house).
