DESCRIPTION
The photograph has a view of the road of old Madras near the High Court. Madras was one of the three presidencies of British India, after Calcutta and Bombay.
The city was home to magnificent colonial buildings, such as the High Court, Town Hall and Senate Hall. The quiet, barely populated street is now one of the busiest ones in the city.
