Government Museum, Bangalore - Print

DESCRIPTION

The Government Museum is the second oldest museum in south India. The imposing neoclassical architectural structure was built in 1878.
It has Corinthian columns, circular arches, sloping eaves and a prominent parapet wall. There are two porticos on either side.
According to official sources, the museum started functioning from a rented building for 13 years before occupying the present building in Cubbon Park, which was known as 'Tamasha Bungalow' (fun house).
