DESCRIPTION
This plate is inspired by an opaque watercolour painting of Varaha.
Varaha is depicted as a powerful, dark-complexioned male figure with a boar's head and prominent tusks. He carries the chakra (discus) in his upper right hand and the shankha (conch) in his upper left. Striding ahead while looking over his shoulder, his fists are clenched, ready to punch the enemy.
Varaha Swamy, the third incarnation of Vishnu, is most associated with the legend of lifting the earth (personified as the goddess Bhudevi) out of the cosmic ocean.
Varaha Swamy's form embodies strength, rescue, and an unwavering commitment to safeguarding the earth.
