DESCRIPTION
Kalighat is one of India's 51 Shakti Peethas, and it is here that Sati's right foot toes fell.
Unfortunately, the magnificent river/canal depicted in the images, known as the Adi Ganga, has been converted to a filthy drain. Between the 15th and 17th centuries, the Adi Ganga was the main flow of the Hooghly River.
